What a web address represent?

A web address (domain) is a virtual address. In comparison, a domain is similar to a personal or a business address (city, street, building, apartment) where an entity can be found. In our case, the web address represent the pointer where a website can be found.

Domain names have the form: name.extension

Web domain extension shows its origins, and is related to the country of origins (eg .ro, .co.uk, .de) or generic extensions (eg .: .com, .org, .net).

The domain name is a unique identifier in the context of the extension, which can define the identity of your website.

E-mails will take the name and domain extension like this: emailaddress@name.extension
